Services Offered
The unit serves both the out-patient and in-patients who require hemodialysis treatment.
Our treatment area is spacious, well-lighted and well-ventilated with more than adequate spacing between stations. We maintain cleanliness in the area and sterility of necessary equipment, instruments and consumables. We operate from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm, Mondays to Saturdays.
- Patients can utilize their Philhealth benefits. Our rates are comparable with other centers. We also accept guarantee approvals from DSWD and other government funding agencies.
- We offer comfortable and comforting environment during the patients’ treatments with us. We prioritize their well-being and work with them to create personalized treatment plans.
Emergency and other in-patients’ hemodialysis treatments can be performed 24/7, after thorough assessment by our in-house staff and competent nephrologists. Vascular surgeons and interventionalists are on board to insert temporary and/or permanent vascular accesses whenever needed.
- There is a one-station hemodialysis station at the Intensive Care Unit to serve critically-ill patients. Other stable patients needing the treatments can be brought to the main HD Unit
Requirements:
Before undergoing dialysis, please ensure you have the following:
Clinical Abstract (Medical History and diagnosis)
Hemodialysis treatment sheet (Last 2 treatments)
Prescription for Hemodialysis order from the Nephrologist.
Step 1: Pre-Dialysis
Submit the requirements 2-3 days before the scheduled dialysis session for evaluation. Pass the requirements to the Hemodialysis unit Admin. Assistant for assessment.
Proceed to Bldg. D billing section to process Philhealth requirements. Wait for processing and receipt of the hemodialysis booklet.
Step 2: Dialysis
Arrive on the scheduled dialysis day. Call time is from 6am-7am.
On the dialysis day, make sure to bring the hemodialysis booklet and maintenance medications.
Wait for 101 (orderly) to assist you using a wheelchair.
Pass through the electronic weighing scale and check your weight.
Using the wheelchair, you will be taken to your assigned hemodialysis machine.
Rest and watch health teachings for four (4) hours.
Step 3: Post dialysis
Wait for the bill to be handed by the admin assistant and proceed to Bldg. D billing section for processing.
Hand the receipt to the admin assistant and obtain the pink slip or building clearance.
The Hemodialysis medical doctors and staff are strongly committed to render excellent hemodialysis services to take care of in- and out-patients needing dialysis treatment for acute and chronic renal failure thereby bringing improved quality life, better health and longer life.
Each caring and compassionate staff carefully functions to:
- Improve the standard in dialysis care in keen observation, cautious analysis of procedures and persistent conduct of researches.
- Continue searching for new knowledge and make new discoveries by attending the monthly conferences in the Unit, national and international conventions and other seminars.
- Collaborate with other centers regarding better health service delivery to the patients.
The Hemodialysis staff supports the:
- Spiritual needs of the patients.
- Families in learning how to cope with sick relatives.
- Formulate strategies to prevent the occurrence of kidney diseases and other similar related diseases.
HISTORY
OUR History
The MCU Hospital Hemodialysis Unit was first established in 1990 and was first headed by Dr. Nenita A. Collantes. It started with four (4) dialysis stations and three (3) renal staff. It was initially housed at the ground level of the old Clinical Division Building. It slowly expanded and transferred to several other areas until its present location now at the new Building D and occupying an area of 1,400 sq.m. When fully expanded, it can accommodate 26 stations.
