SERVICES
Services Offered
The Heart Station provides the following services:
24- hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM)
Procedures to measure blood pressure as you move around doing your normal daily routine. It is normally carried over 24 hours and uses a small digital blood pressure machine that is attached to a belt around your body and is connected to a cuff around your upper arm. It is small enough that you can go about your normal daily activities and even sleep with it.
24- hour Holter Monitoring
A device commonly used to keep track of your heart rhythm while doing your normal daily routine.
2-D Echocardiogram (2-D echo)
It is a non-invasive procedure used to assess the heart’s structures and function.
A transducer is placed on the chest of the patient and uses ultrasonic sound waves to detect any structural abnormality and function of the heart. It is basically an ultrasound procedure that focuses on the heart.
Vascular imaging
A test that uses ultrasound waves to evaluate the blood flow, blood pressure, circulation and level of oxygen in the blood in the veins and arteries.
Stress Test
Stress test is a procedure that uses a treadmill with both ECG and blood pressure monitoring. It is used frequently to assess prognosis and determine functional capacity, and also in assessing the probability and extent of coronary disease, and the effects of therapy.
Electro cardiogram (ECG/ EKG)
ECG is a procedure that determines the electrical activity of the heart through line tracings on paper.
Electroencephalogram (EEG)
A diagnostic test used to detect abnormalities related to the electrical activity of the brain. This procedure tracks and records brain wave patterns.
A transducer is placed on the chest of the patient and uses ultrasonic sound waves to detect any structural abnormality and function of the heart. It is basically an ultrasound procedure that focuses on the heart.
Note: Procedures like stress test; EEG, 24-Holter monitoring and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring are done by schedule thru personal or phone call inquiries.
HISTORY
OUR History
The Heart Station was established in the early 1980s, initially led by Dr. Marcelito L. Durante and Dr. Lutgarda C. Quito. It is currently under the leadership of Dr. Leandro C. Bongosia. The team comprises a dedicated group of five technicians and staff members, all trained in performing various cardiac diagnostic procedures such as echocardiograms, electrocardiograms (ECG), stress tests, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, and Holter monitoring. The results of these tests are meticulously interpreted by esteemed cardiologists who are fellows of the Philippine Heart Association and affiliated societies.
